New Milford Little League Honored at CitiField

New Milford Little League honored on CitiField

Players from New Milford Little League and their families were honored Tuesday night at CitiField during the Mets and Diamondbacks game.

All of this was part of the league receiving an SNY Play Ball! grant for $5,000 from the Mets broadcast network and NY Community Bank. The grants are awarded to programs in the Tri-State area in need of assistance, and with New Milford's fields damaged by Hurricane Sandy and floods over the years, they were selected as a 2013 recipient.

The Mets provided tickets to the game which were distributed to "graduating" 12- year old players and their families in recognition of their dedication to the program for over five years, along with members of the league's board, various volunteers, and players on the Minor and Major World Series winning teams.

Prior to the game, board members Dan Davis, Mary Jane Terry, Ray Rama and Brian Heuer, who along with their children, were given access to the field during batting practice where they met some of the Diamondback players and coaches.

Shortly before the game, the league was led to the field where representatives of the SNY network and NY Community Bank presented them with a check and debuted the video montage recently filmed in New Milford on the CitiField scoreboard.

The piece will be airing on the SNY network's presentation of "Mets Kid's Clubhouse" on July 7th at 6pm.
