Bonita what kind of carcinogenics will be stirred up and tossed into the air once they break ground on this development? The children at the high school, the senior citizens and the local residents will get to breathe these in. Or perhaps Heikemian will put a dome over it before disturbing all of the disease that is contained in the site to prevent this and protect the surrounding community.
Then there are the other pollutants. You know, the humans that will traffic the site, the trucks, the cars. The shear number of humans that will be visiting the site each day will damage the environment as much as the old Hackensack Water Company did.
Think your fresh fruit and vegetables will be safe from that?

Celeste you stated "how do you think all the prior appointments to Borough Attorney formalize? "
This is where there are problems. The back scratching. Instead of "recommendations" from the council members/appointees, why not put these positions out to bid. That way there can never be these types of squabbles. If the position holder is not somehow personally linked to one of our council members/other appointees, then there should be fewer questions like where do their loyalties lie?

And stadium lights are a nice addition for those residents on River Road and the surrounding streets.
How about a park that can incorporate the flooding that occurs there. Walking paths, wildlife, canoe launch? A quiet respite from all the bullhockey life throws at us.
You see asskcikinglass, not everyone is of a "sports and team mentality." Not everything in life revolves around a game.

ReplyA sports COMPLEX? Really. Shall we name New Milford Xanadu?
If the town gets to control it, it should be for ALL the residents. Not just the athletically inclined ones.

ReplyWhat I would like to know is why do three Republicans (who support development of the UW property) want the personal attorney of a Democrat who is against the development of UW to be the boro's attorney?
Seems to me there is a story there.

@ Bill those chaperoning assignments are in the contracts with the police unions. The utilities used to provide their own flagman (you know a job for someone). Most of these cops are on overtime doing the same job 5 pieces of lumber, a battery and a flashing light could do. Wouldn't bother me so much if they actually helped direct traffic. All I ever see them doing is jawboning with the work crews or sitting in the cars doing who knows what.

ReplyRosemary big, ill-advised developments don't happen in towns like where Mr. Delvecchio lives. It's acceptable to the ruling class. Only the serfs have to suffer with their barbarism.

Why was Jamie's comment removed?
All that was suggested was that the Mayor and Council look into why the police department performed a less than stellar investigation into this poor woman's disappearance.
