When Donna’s second child was born in 1994, he was diagnosed with a kidney disease. It was then that she found her muse and began to write. During his illness, she remembered ‘Zeeke,’ the character her father sketched for her as a child. In 2004, her son finally hit remission and she started to write the soon to be published children's book, “Illness Schmillness: The Power Of Zeeke.” Donna realized that Zeeke was indeed, Hope and Inspiration.

In 2004, Donna started the North Jersey Chapter of The NephCure Foundation where she shares her son’s experiences and the hope she has gained through his strength. She has also been interviewed by numerous media outlets as a spokeswoman for The NephCure Foundation.

In 2007, Donna was asked by the Pediatric Nephrology Department of the Joseph M. Sanzari Children’s Hospital located at the Hackensack University Medical Center, one of the highest rated and respected children’s hospitals, to sit on the Pediatric Advisory Board. It is there that she has the opportunity to voice her concerns, ideas and experience in order to implement new procedures.
