More than 80 communities participated in a walkathon for St Jude's Hospital on Saturday. The Bergen Town Center was the site for the walkathon in the northern New Jersey area. More than 300 people attended the walkathon, which raised $60,000 to fight childhood cancer. St Jude's Hospital provides free serivices to its patients and is dependent on fundraisers. Ben Chapman, from Ridgewood, was selected to cut the ribbon to start the walk. Chapman was diagnosed with brain cancer at 3 years old and was a patient at St Jude's. He is now cancer free.

Elvis aka Mike Moat made a visit to the Elks to help raise funds for the NMFD
Elvis made an appearance Friday night at the New Milford-Teaneck Elks in a benefit performance for the New Milford Fire Department Company No. 2. Eternally Elvis was presented by Mike Moat and his 11-piece band Golden Reflections. A good time was certainly had by all who attended.

The old stop which was beginning to fall apart with loose bricks and more was finally replaced last week
The bus stop on River Road across from Brookchester was replaced last week. Workers said all that remained to be done was some work on the footing before it is completely finished. That stop had been the subject of discussion at a recent meeting of the Mayor and Council due to its unsafe structure which had continued to deteriorate. NJ Transit workers were on the scene building the brand new shelter on May 24.

The event was held at the Garden Cafe Friday night
The New Milford Democratic Club hosted a wine and cheese reception on Friday night at the Garden Cafe. The club crowned borough resident Paloma Camacho "Miss Democratic" and her family was on hand to celebrate. State Senator Bob Gordon also made an appearance at the event along with Hedy Grant, Democratic candidate for borough council and Councilwoman Randi Duffie.
