Spring Musical Opens Tomorrow Night, Features Guest Spellers

The "25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee" will be performed Thursday through Saturday, 8pm in the high school auditorium

For the past several months, New Milford High School students have been hard at work learning lines and building sets in time for Thursday's opening night of the spring musical "The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee." And the production will feature several "guest spellers" will include Police Chief Frank Pappapietro (March 21), Mayor Ann Subrizi and HS Principal Eric Sheninger (March 22), Superintendent Michal Polizzi and Principals from DEO Middle School, Berkley School and Gibbs School (March 23). "The cast and crew has been working really hard," crew member Michelle Khimishman said. "All of last week everyone was here till 10pm. NMHS Embarks on Spring Musical's Set Building Saturday

The cast, crew, family, friends and volunteers help build the set for this year's performance of "The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee."

Although the choice of the musical changes, the tradition of set building Saturday stands unchanged. This year, the cast, crew, family, friends and volunteers once again gathered in New Milford High School's James Africano Auditorium to begin building the set for this year's performance of "The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee."

NMHS to Present "The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee"

Director Jonathan Silver's spring theater production of "The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee" is in full swing.

Riding the wave of success from last year's production of 9 to 5: The Musical, director Jonathan Silver (NMHS '05) returns to lead the ensemble cast of New Milford High School students in a stage presentation of The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee. Silver describes Spelling Bee as "more of an event than than a show." The musical invites participation from audience members and allows them to be on stage as spelling contestants, which, according to Silver, will make each performance "different, thrilling and special." For Silver, this year is all about passion. "I want them to extract the passion from their lives and infuse it into their characters." This Saturday, the cast and crew will be on hand with volunteers building the set. …
