Rutgers Fires Rice

Athletic Director Tim Pernetti has confirmed that Rutgers basketball coach Mike Rice has lost his job.

After less than a day of deflecting a storm of bad press surrounding head basketball coach Mike Rice's coaching methods, Rutgers Athletic Director Tim Pernetti has confirmed that Rice has been fired. Rutgers Athletics said Rice's termination was based on the recent "issues" as well as "a review of previously discovered issues." “I am responsible for the decision to attempt a rehabilitation of Coach Rice,” Pernetti said, in a prepared statement. “Dismissal and corrective action were debated in December and I thought it was in the best interest of everyone to rehabilitate, but I was wrong. Rutgers Board of Governors Votes to Increase Tuition and Fees 2.2 Percent for 2013

According to Rutgers University, this would bring the cost of tuition, fees and room and board to a total of $24,000 for full-time in-state students in the School of Arts and Sciences.

Amid student protests, the Rutgers University Board of Governors voted today to increase tuition, fees and room and board costs for the 2013 school year by a total of 2.2 percent. This will bring the total cost of an Rutgers University education for a full-time in-state student living on campus and enrolled in the School of Arts and Sciences up to $10,356 in tuition, $10,970 in room and board and $2,717 in mandatory student fees, according to the university. University spokesman Greg Trevor said the School of Arts and Sciences enrolls the highest number of Rutgers students, and was used as the example. New Milford High School Hosts College and Career Readiness Night

Panel of educators answer students questions about the application process

New Milford High School recently hosted College and Career Readiness Night offering students and their parents an opportunity to speak with representatives from colleges, universities and the military. Representatives from Drew University, Stevens Institute of Technology, Bergen Community College, Musicians Institute, Academy of Art University, Lincoln Technical School and the United States Army took part in the evening's events. Director of Admissions for Rutgers University, Nancy Pullen, attended the program as well.
