A doctor accused of stockpiling bomb-making chemicals and assault weapons in his Ridgewood home had how-to manuals in containers marked "Anarchism" and "Revolution", Attorney General Jeffrey S. Chiesa said Wednesday. Dr. Roberto Rivera, 60, was arrested Nov. 16 at a Union Street apartment after authorities claim to have found 2.5 liters of nitric acid in a basement freezer. Hydrogen peroxide, glycerin, sulfuric acid, calcium hypochlorite, and potassium perchlorate – all of which can be used to create bombs – were also found, authorities charged. It's opening night for the Bergen County Players' production of Meredith Willson's Tony Award winning play "The Music Man." "It's a beautiful production," said Director Larry Landsman, of Wyckoff. "There is no bigger undertaking than bringing "The Music Man," an American classic, to the stage." Saturday night's production is the culmination of four months of hard work, hundreds of hours of technical effort and plenty of dedication, Landsman said. "This is the biggest show we've ever put on our stage, some folks were wondering if we could even do this show," Landsman said. "It's truly been a team effort." Ronald J. O’Malley used official office to help his Ridgewood-based firm.
Former Bergen County Improvement Authority chairman Ronald J. O’Malley was sentenced to two years in prison Tuesday for a mortgage fraud scheme that falsely claimed mortgage borrowers worked at the county’s public financing agency, U.S. Attorney Paul Fishman said. O’Malley, 48, a principal in Ridgewood-based mortgage brokerage firm Diversified Financial Group, was also hit with a $25,000 fine imposed by U.S. District Judge Dennis M. Cavanaugh. O’Malley and his coconspirators arranged for phony paystubs and W-2 forms to show borrowers worked at the BCIA, federal prosecutors said.
