Ranking places New Milford High School in the top 3.8 percent of all high schools in the country and thirteenth in Bergen County. Ranking places New Milford High School in the top 3.8 percent of all high schools in the country and thirteenth in Bergen County.
New Milford High School has made it to Newsweek's ranking of top high schools in the country. Although its ranking of 1028 may seem modest, with more than 26,407 high schools nationwide, this puts New Milford in the top 3.8 percent in the country. New Milford is ranked 13 out of all of the high schools ranked in Bergen County. Danielle Shanley, Director of Curriculum and Instruction, said that the ranking supports the long-term vision that the administration has been focused on for the past three years--a vision that includes making foundational changes that will better connect students to advanced learning and prepare them for college and beyond. McClure credits his nomination for best actor in a musical to his roots in New Milford.

New Milford High School holds its first model United Nations Conference.
New Milford High School held its first Model United Nations Conference this week. Model U.N. participants role-play as diplomats representing a country or NGO in a simulated session of a committee of the United Nations, such as the Security Council or the General Assembly. Participants research a country, take on roles as diplomats, investigate international issues, debate, deliberate, consult, and then develop solutions to world problems. During a conference, participants must employ a variety of communication and critical thinking skills in order to represent the policies of their country. A rock concert to benefit the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention and the New Milford High School BUDDY program.
The New Milford Board of Education, New Milford Recreation and the New Milford BUDDY program is presenting Rock 4 Life, a rock concert to benefit the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention and the New Milford High School BUDDY program. The Rock 4 Life concert was the brainchild of Kelly Norton who wanted to use music as a way to raise awareness on the effects of bullying. Norton's band will be performing at the concert. Her music also supports suicide awareness. The concert, taking place May 19 at New Milford High School, will interfuse live music with presentations and videos about the effects of bullying. The tennis and track teams also picked up a pair of wins this past week
After racing out to an undefeated five game winning streak, bolstered by senior shortstop Carly Lesko's powerful bat, the Lady Knights picked up their first loss of the season, a 4-3 upset to Park Ridge this past week. Lesko, who blasted three home runs this week (including one grand slam), led New Milford with huge victories over Holy Angels (16-8), Leonia (10-0) and Harrison (12-0) prior to the loss. Against the Lady Owls, New Milford took a 1-0 lead to start but Park Ridge banged in four runs in the first inning and then limited New Milford to one run in the second and third innings before completly shutting down the Lady Knights offense. The Christie Administration released its new School Performance Reports for the 2011-2012 school year Wednesday.
Elementary school students atBerkley Street and BF Gibbs schools in New Milford were found to be lagging behind their peers while the middle school was found to be high performing when compared to their new peer groups and the state according to the new School Performance Reports. Academic achievement results were not available for New Milford High School. Released Wednesday, the reports are a new version of the long-running School Reports Cards that have measured school performance on a variety of metrics since the 1990s. According to the report, Berkley and Gibbs students were ranked between the 33rd and 39th percentile in their peer groups and in the 49th percentile in the state. David E. Baseball and track also opened their spring season with victory
Spring has finally arrived and with it the opening of baseball, softball,track, boys tennis and volleyball seasons. And after a long winter the New Milford Knights are already running towards successful seasons. With six returning starters, the Lady Knights are already the perenial favorite in the NJIC Liberty division, more so after their opening day shutout wins over Secaucus (5-0) and Ridgefield (18-0). Against the Patriots, both sides were held scoreless until the third inning when shortstop Carly Lesko blasted a two-run homer over the center field fence for the lead. Students left Monday afternoon for their two week long trip beginning with Berlin
Following an eight-hour flight, 12 New Milford High School students arrived in Berlin, Germany in their first stop of their Eastern European Holocaust Education Trip. The students, accompanied by Colleen Tambuscio will spend two weeks visiting a variety of historical locations as part of the Holocaust Education Program. Throughout their two-week trip, students will blog about their adventures for friends, family and the entire New Milford community at hst10.blogspot.com. The annual Holocaust Education Program began in 1994 when New Jersey mandated the study of the Holocaust.
