The Nelson-Patterson Insurance Agency and the New Milford Chamber of Commerce will be sponsoring a Social Media Seminar with New Milford High School Principal, Eric Sheninger. The seminar will be held at New Milford High School, 330 River Road at 5pm. Signs of Spring -- Softball Registration begins Monday, Jan. 21 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Rec Building. Registration is also being held on the following days:  The New Milford Board of Education is holding a regular meeting on Tuesday, Jan. 22 at 7 p.m. in the Middle School Media Center. The Shade Tree Commission is meeting Wednesday, Jan. 23 at 7 p.m. in the upstairs conference room of Borough Hall. The removal and replacement of trees from the United Water property, should the development be approved, has been an on-going topic for the Shade Tree Commission. Mark your calendars: The town will be holding a free Rabies Clinic on Saturday, Feb. 9 at the DPW Building from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Environmental Commission and Board of Education meetings just a few things going on this week in New Milford.

The Board of Education will hold its work session on Monday, Dec. 3 at 7 pm in the Media Center at New Milford High School. The Environmental and Energy Commission will be meeting Tuesday, Dec. 4 at 7 pm in the upstairs conference room at Borough Hall. The Commission has the power to study and make recommendations concerning open space preservation, water resoures management, air pollution control, solid waste management, noise control, soil and landscape protection, environmental appearance, marine resources, energy conservation and protection of flora and fauna. The Recreation Commission will be holding its monthly meeting on Wednesday, Dec. 5 at 7:30 pm in the upstairs meeting room of the Recreation Building. The Rent Leveling Board is …

Early Childhood Development Playschool Registration

Registration for New Milford High School’s Early Childhood Development Playschool begins Thursday.

Registration for New Milford High School’s Early Childhood Development Playschool classes for the 2012-2013 school year will be held on Thursday, October 4, at 3 p.m. in the high school cafeteria. Registration is on a FIRST COME FIRST SERVE basis. This year the program will begin in December with classes being held on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Additional days will be added in January. Applications are available in the high school main office or by clicking here.  A fee of $100 to cover class expenses is due at registration. Former Assistant Superintendent of New Milford Accused of Sexual Misconduct

Joseph Picardo named in a complaint in Bergen County by former Belleville school employee Michael M. Meyers.

Belleville Schools Superintendent, Joseph Picardo, has been accused of sexual misconduct by a former male employee and has been placed on a paid leave of absence. Picardo previously served as New Milford Assistant Superintendent of Schools. Calls to the Belleville Board of Education confirmed Picardo is on leave, but calls to Picardo were not returned Thursday or Friday. A former male emloyee filed a lawsuit in state Superior Court accusing Picardo of "a series of sexual abuses suffered during his employment," according to Gerald Saluti, lawyer for the former employee. New Milford Schools Coat of Arms presentation and more

Superintendent Michael Polizzi gave a slide presentation displaying a sample of the New Milford Coat of Arms that will be presented to parents, teachers and a committee of students for comments.  The idea for designing a district-wide coat of arms was presented to the superintendent by a group of about 10 students ranging from freshmen to seniors two years ago. The students wanted one image that would represent the qualities that the concept of “Knight” embodies--honor, courage, loyalty, leadership, integrity, chivalry, unity, community and, most importantly, service. Polizzi said that the students chose the motto “In Service to Others” for the coat of arms because “the New Milford community and families do an exceptional job imparting …
