The New Milford Board of Education will be holding a work session on Monday at 7pm in the Media Center at New Milford High School. The Nelson-Patterson Insurance Agency and the New Milford Chamber of Commerce will be sponsoring a Social Media Seminar with New Milford High School Principal, Eric Sheninger. The Board of Education will be holding its work session Monday at 7pm in the Media Center at New Milford High School. The public is invited to attend. The Berkley Street Elementary School PTO is meeting Tuesday at 7:30pm at the school. The Gibbs Elementary School PTO is meeting Wednesday at 7:30pm at the school. The High School is hosting "Growing Up," a fundraiser to support the annual spring musical on Friday, Feb. 22. New Milford police responded to a report of a burglary Monday morning after a witness observed a man breaking into a Faller Drive apartment. Ramsey, Saddle River and Upper Saddle River police capture suspected burglars. New Milford man who allegedly illegally purchased oxycodone from an Emerson doctor was placed on two years of probation Monday. Letter to Zoning Board requesting that the letters submitted by the Environmental and Shade Tree Commissions be considered, denied at this time.
Lori Barton, Communication Chair for SOD (Stop Over Development), requested in writing that the Zoning Board consider the letters of concern regarding the development of the United Water property submitted by the Environmental and Shade Tree Commissions. In a letter dated Dec. 4, 2012, the Environmental Commission raised concerns regarding the DEP's "letter of no further action" certifying that the United Water property, a former sludge pit used for industrial waste, was no longer contaminated. The letter asserts that despite the fact that the Ford Motor Company's Mahwah facility was declared clean in 1994, additional sludge was found on the site in 1995, 1998 and 2004. The Environmental and Energy Commission will be holding its regular monthly meeting Tuesday, 7pm in the upstairs conference room at Borough Hall. What exactly is the commission responsible for? An easy guide to understanding how board members are chosen.
The Planning Board, governed by the rules of N.J. Statute 40:55D under the Municipal Land Use Law, is created by the municipal governing body by ordinance. The board consists of no less than seven and no more than nine members who are grouped into four classes. There are currently nine members sitting on the New Milford Planning Board, with two alternates. Class I: This is the sitting mayor. The term of office corresponds to the mayor's term of office.
