Towns Seek Storm Answers, Assurances In Meeting With PSEG

Representatives from BPU and PSEG talk storm issues with local officials

In the wake of Irene and the October 29th snowstorm, public officials throughout Bergen County have been asking state legislators to hold utility companies responsible for communicating real-time information in an effort to provide their constituents with answers. Responding to this, State Sen. Loretta Weinberg hosted a meeting on Dec. 13 between District 37 officials and representatives from PSEG and the Board of Public Utilities (BPU). The goal of the meeting was to establish protocol that will open the lines of communication between public officials and the utility companies during times of severe weather emergencies. Voss Ready for Her Move to Freeholder

Former assemblywoman talks about her transition from legislator to freeholder

Taking time out from packing up her Fort Lee legislative office for the move to her new headquarters in Hackensack, Assemblywoman and Freeholder-elect Joan Voss laughed as she recounted her “high-heeled” boots-on-the ground campaign for Bergen County Freeholder. “My running mate [David Ganz] wanted to know if I taught all the residents of Bergen County,” Voss said, explaining that wherever they went, she ran into her former students.    Having taught at Fort Lee High School for 41 years, there is no doubt that she taught thousands who are scattered throughout Bergen County. This article states: "With the exception of Fort Lee being added, District 37 remained virtually untouched." Not exactly accurate. In addition to acquiring Fort Lee, the new District 37 now also includes Alpine, Cresskill, Northvale and Rockleigh, while it no longer includes Bergenfield, Maywood, Ridgefield Park and Rochelle Park.
