McClure credits his nomination for best actor in a musical to his roots in New Milford.

Fundraiser to include performances by returning alumni
New Milford High School will be hosting an alumni concert fundraiser at 8 p.m. Friday in the James Africano Auditorium of New Milford High School. The fundraiser will feature Jonathan Silver, class of 2005 and director of this year's spring musical, along with the cast of 9-to-5: The Musical. Performing at the alumni concert fundraiser will be alumni Rob McClure, class of 2000, who has appeared on Broadway in Avenue Q and is currently playing the role of Charlie Chaplin in Limelight. How do you get from the New Milford Village apartments to Broadway? Well, if you ask Rob McClure, class of 2000, he'll tell you it's by way of New Milford High School. This coming spring McClure is bringing Chaplin to Broadway in a role he created at the La Jolla Playhouse in California. Limelight: The Story of Charlie Chaplin is a musical based on the life of Charlie Chaplin and reveals the story of the man behind the camera. And it all began on the stage at New Milford High School. In the eighth grade McClure auditioned for the High School's production of Bye Bye Birdie, got the part, but turned it down.
