After a four year delay, the former Huffman Koos lot will have its groundbreaking ceremony Wednesday.
After four years of waiting, the former Huffman Koos development project, approved in 2008, is finally going to begin Wednesday at noon with a groundbreaking ceremony. Route 4-Main Street LLC which is owned by Peter and Paul Ciancia was granted site plan approval by the Planning Board in the fall of 2007 to construct a trio of retail buildings on Main Street with Total Wine moving closer towards Rt. 4 into a new 30,000-square-foot building on the property. A 22-year old Little Ferry man facing charges of strong armed robbery in Dumont and assaulting a New Milford police officer, found in Key Largo.
A 22-year old Little Ferry man facing charges he struck a New Milford police officer was stopped in Key Largo early Sunday morning for riding his bike erratically and arrested after he allegedly ran from deputies, fought them and was found to possess drugs, according to a release from Florida's Monroe County Sheriff's Office. Richard Scrivani is accused of shoplifting and strong armed robbery in the CVS on Madison Avenue in Dumont on Feb. 2. After fleeing the scene, Scrivani was stopped by New Milford Police where he is alleged to have assaulted an officer before fleeing again. With the majority of town still without power, and most businesses closed, New Milford is trying to get back to normal.
Less than 48 hours since Sandy came barreling into Bergen County, taking down hundred-year old trees, wires, telephone and light poles, New Milford is trying to recover from the devastation. "Being without power for so long is the hardest thing to deal with," one resident of Graphic Street said. "Especially having no internet. I feel so disconnected from everything that's going on in the world." All of the businesses on Main Street remained closed Wednesday due to lack of power, as did CVS, Shop Rite, Dunkin' Donuts and both 7-Elevens. The DPW was out in full force and the majority of borough streets that were closed due to downed trees and debris Tuesday were cleared by Wednesday. Hackensack University Medical Center physicians will serve as medical directors of CVS/pharmacy walk-in medical clinics.
In a partnership with CVS, Hackensack University Medical Center (HUMC) physicians will serve as medical directors for six CVS Minute Clinics. Minute Clinics offer patients walk-in services for common illnesses and wellness and prevention services, such as cholesterol, diabetes and blood pressure screening and monitoring. Under this agreement, HUMC physicians will also refer patients to one another when additional care is needed that the Minute Clinic cannot provide to the patient. In addition to this collaboration, the patient can give permission for the Minute Clinic to electronically share their medical history with HUMC locations in northeast New Jersey.
