Six-year old Nathan Norman has terminal cancer and is reaching out to policemen, firemen and all emergency service workers to fulfill his final Christmas wish.
The only thing on Dawn Norman's wish list this holiday season is that her 6-year old son Nathan lives to see another Christmas, and that his wish of receiving cards, letters and patches from as many policemen, firemen and EMT's is fulfilled. Why? Because policemen, firemen and EMT's happen to be Nathan's heroes. Three years ago, Nathan, who lives with his family in Rustburg, Virginia, was diagnosed with brain cancer. "I remember the doctor saying that there was an abnormality," Dawn Norman remembers. "The doctor kept telling me over and over that there was an abnormality and then it hit me. Bergen County Police Chiefs hold 9/11 memorial service at the Westfield Garden State Plaza.
The Bergen County Police Chiefs Association held a memorial service at the Westfield Garden State Plaza Tuesday commemorating those lives lost in the terrorist attacks on the 11th anniversary of September 11. Police Chiefs, ranked officers, police officers and members of the public gathered before the memorial that was originally dedicated by the Chiefs on September 11, 2002, while members of the Police Pipes and Drums of Bergen County played. According to Cliffside Park Police Chief Donald Keane, who serves as the 1st Vice President of the Chiefs Association, the Chiefs Association wanted to dedicate a memorial where it would be seen by everyone and not just those in emergency services. Mayor and council ask that Christopher Righetti be denied parole.
In response to Chief Frank Papapietro's call for action to keep convicted murderer Christopher Righetti behind bars, the mayor and council passed a resolution Monday that Righetti be denied parole. The resolution—unanimously approved—asks that the parole board deny Righetti parole and that any consideration of a future parole date be no less than 35 years from now. Righetti is eligible for parole on April 16, nearly 36 years after he killed Kim Montalero, a 20-year-old New Milford resident who he kidnapped from the Paramus Park Mall on Aug. 31, 1976, brutally raped and stabbed to death in a secluded area of the Pine Lake Swim Club in Washington Township. Chiefs annual hospital ‘toys for tots’ puts smiles on the faces of many sick children and their parents
“He’s magical,” three-year old Rebecca whispered to her mother when Santa Claus handed her a Barbie Princess doll as she sat cradled in her mother’s arms in Holy Name Medical Center. “Rebecca loves princesses,” her mother said overcome with emotion that unexpected kindness brings. “I am a princess,” Rebecca confidently countered.
