Amended or New Application for United Water Property, More in Week's Local News

Police Chiefs Help Santa Deliver Toys To Sick Children

Bergen County Police Chiefs accompanied Santa as he visited area hospitals to deliver gifts to sick children.

It is impossible to count the number of sick children Santa and his very special helpers--the Bergen County Chiefs of Police--have brought joy to over the last 30 years as they deliver toys to the pediatric wards and clinics of Englewood, Holy Name Medical Center and Valley Hospitals. But they did it again Wednesday, as Santa went from floor to floor, hospital to hospital, surprising children as they lie in their bed, many attached to tubes in their arms, some too sick to show joy. Jack Murphy, ret. Chief from Englewood Cliffs, one of the founding members of this annual tradition, continues to lead the way every year. United Water Property Dominates Discussion This Week In Local News

Rezoning, calls for investigation, letters from councilmen and SOD's petition--development dominated the discussion in town this week.

New Milford's grass roots group tells the Mayor & Council to unite with them against the development of the United Water property. Rezoning property keeps Hekemian's original offer on the table. Calling it "United Water-gate" Councilwoman Hedy Grant calls for special counsel to investigate failure of Mayor and Council to vote on the purchase of United Water property. 1100 signatures are hand delivered to the Mayor and Council asking them not to rezone the United Water property. Council President Howard Berner advocates for buying the United Water property.  Councilmen Diego Robalino and Dominic Colucci explain the vote to rezone.
