Election day brought a change in the balance of power on the council; power restored after Sandy, threatened by Athena.
Preliminary counts show Putrino and Ashley take the election, while residents cast a resounding 'no' for the Field of Dreams. Ashley and Putrino "anxious to get to work on behalf of the residents of New Milford." See how the candidates did in each district, with the unofficial counts. Just when some residents saw their power come back after 10 days, Athena took it away. Lawmakers set up an Amazon.com "wish list" where residents can purchase much-needed items and have them shipped to the legislators' district office where they will be delivered to those in need.
Democratic assembly members Connie Wagner and Tim Eustace are organizing an online donation drive for storm-ravaged victims who are now entering the recovery and clean-up phase from Hurricane Sandy. After meeting with so many residents who lost their homes, Wagner and Eustace wanted to add much needed support to the devastation caused by Sandy. "For all those who have completely lost their homes, our heart goes out to them," Wagner said. "There are also many residents who have monumental clean-up and recovery efforts ahead of them." By partnering with Amazon.com, Wagner and Eustace have set up an "wish list" where, with one click, residents can purchase much-needed items directly and have them shipped to the legislators' district office …

Assemblyman Timothy Eustace visits Berkley's fifth graders and talks about government.
Assemblyman Timothy Eustace spent Thursday morning at Berkley Elementary School prepared to teach the students about government, but ended up learning some things himself. Questions from the students focused on the environment and they were eager to hear about what Eustace was doing to preserve it. Eustace explained to the assembled students that he is very focused on reducing his own carbon footprint and has installed solar panels on his house and drives an electric car. It was the electric car that caught the children's attention as Eustace started it up and showed them where the plug is installed. Principal Patricia Aufiero said that she was extremely impressed with the questions that the fifth graders asked the assemblyman. "It was …

Senator Robert Gordon and Assembly members Timothy Eustace and Connie Wagner join New Milford's Chamber of Commerce as they visit local business owners.
The threatening rain clouds did not keep Senator Robert Gordon, Assembly members Timothy Eustace and Connie Wagner, and Council members Hedy Grant and Austin Ashley from attending New Milford's Chamber of Commerce walk along River Road to meet and greet business owners. Among some of the businesses that the group visited were Jersey Boys, Chez Rosemary, Harvey's Appliance, Toros Turkish & Mediterranean Cuisine, New Milford Delicatessen, Verizon and Roman's. At each stop the representatives discussed the state of local businesses and how these business owners are weathering tough economic times. Patrick Santino, owner of Harvey's Appliance, told Gordon that the benefit of shopping local is that he knows his customers and will go out of …

Local officials and residents from across District 38 are invited to Bergenfield Tuesday as Senator Bob Gordon, Assemblywoman Connie Wagner and Assemblyman Tim Eustace host an open house to celebrate the opening of their new constituent service office on South Washington Street. “We are very excited to open our new office in downtown Bergenfield and get to know our neighbors a bit better,” said Gordon (D-Fair Lawn). “This new office will provide constituents of the 38th district more office location options and greater access to both their legislators and the constituent services our offices provide.” The joint office, at 35 South Washington St., will serve as an additional service center to constituents. As 38th District legislators, Senator Bob Gordon, Assemblyman Tim Eustace and myself recently formed a Public Education Advisory Committee consisting of administrators, supervisors, teachers, board of education members and parents. The purpose of this committee is to discuss the important educational issues which face the state of New Jersey. The agenda of the first meeting focused on teacher evaluations and their impact on earning tenure. What we found most interesting was the unanimous agreement that the current evaluation and tenure situation in our school system is broken. What we also found most interesting was that participants representing different roles in education could come together to offer creative solutions to the …

I applaud the initiative to open this satellite office. I feel more a part of this district then I ever did being in the 39th for all of those years. I feel that Sen. Gordon and Assembly members Wagner and Eustace are there to represent ME, not themselves. I was SOOOO frustrated all of those years with the so-called "representation" I had with Cardinale and Rooney. Vandervalk was a bit better but…   more ›
