Prosecutor: Armed Robber Shot, Killed by Police in Leonia

Leonia and Palisades Park police officers shot and killed the suspect Sunday, according to the Bergen County Prosecutor.

A knife-wielding assailant was shot and killed by three police officers after he robbed a CVS pharmacy in Leonia Sunday afternoon, authorities said. In a statement issued late Sunday, Bergen County Prosecutor John L. Molinelli identified the alleged robber as 47-year-old Leonia resident Rickey L. McFadden. Police were called to the Broad Avenue pharmacy around 4:30 p.m. after McFadden pulled a “large knife” and stole cash along with other goods, the prosecutor said. Three Palisades Park police officers and one Leonia officer “engaged” McFadden, who was carrying the knife and had fled on foot northbound along Broad Avenue, then down Hillside Avenue, according to Molinelli. New Milford Man, Paramus Woman Charged in Alleged Armed Robbery

Police charge Vincent Ortenzio and Amanda Gaeta in alleged armed robbery of 7-Eleven

New Milford Police have arrested Vincent Ortenzio, of New Milford and Amanda Gaeta, of Paramus, charging the 21-year-old pair in connection with an armed robbery that occured early Monday at the River Road 7-Eleven.  According to Police Chief Frank Papapietro, Ortenzio, wearing a ski mask, allegedly entered the store at approximately 3:45 a.m., displayed a handgun and took approximately $200 cash.  When Ortenzio allegedly ordered the clerk to open the cigarette case, the clerk fled the store and called police on his cell phone.  After interviewing the clerk, Papapietro said responding officers Sgt. John Moroney and Officer Brian Carlino quickly developed a lead male suspect and called in the Bergen County Police K-9 unit, along with …

Armed Robbery Reported at 7-Eleven

Police report two suspects in custody.

An amed robbery was reported early Monday morning at the 7-Eleven on River Road, Police Chief Frank Papapietro said.   According to Papapietro, the robbery was reported at 3:45 a.m. and two suspects are in custody. He also said that a gun was shown at the scene.  Papapietro said that the investigation is ongoing and more information will be provided as it becomes available.
