New Milford BOE Enters into Contract for 'Field of Dreams' with Hekemian

"Conceptual contract" includes Hekemian donation of 3 acres of property and a 'sizable' donation for BOE to construct an athletic stadium.

Jaws dropped and tensions mounted during Tuesday's Zoning Board meeting at the revelation that the New Milford Board of Education (BOE) had entered into a separate agreement with the developer of the United Water property to receive a parcel of land to build a 'field of dreams.'  Attorney for the applicant, Antimo "Andy" DelVecchio, informed the Zoning Board that Hekemian had entered into a "conceptual contract" with the New Milford BOE to donate "in excess" of three acres of property to construct a field of dreams-like "state of the art" athletic field and stadium on a parcel of property that is not subject to flooding. Zoning Board Rejects Motion To Consider Hekemian Revisions a New Application

Board denies motion made by counsel for Councilman Austin Ashley that the revisions made to the site plan application constitutes a new application,

The Zoning Board formally denied a motion made by Marc Leibman, the attorney who had represented Councilman Austin Ashley against the development of the United Water property, that the revisions made to the site plan constitutes the need for the filing of a new application. (Leibman, appointed New Milford's Borough Attorney, has removed himself from representing Ashley in this matter.) With the exception of Peter Rebsch and Joe Loonam, all of the Board members voted to consider the revisions an amended application, thereby allowing the hearings to proceed as scheduled. United Water is getting off easy-stop infighting and fight the power instead. I think we all should staple our checks to our bills as a statement of protest of United Water's attempt to build on this property. Hekemian is only the conduit-United Water is the perpetrator.
