Working 9 to 5, What a Way to Make a Hit

NMHS production of 9 to 5: The Musical wows the audience and sells out every show.

The energy went up with the curtains Saturday night inside New Milford High School's James Africano Auditorium as the young ensemble cast and crew delivered a meticulous, power-packed performance of "9 to 5: The Musical." Written by Patricia Resnick, with lyrics by Dolly Parton, this musical production marks the first time any high school in the country was given license to perform it.  Given that responsibility, and the heavy emotional and sexual undertones that define "9 to 5," it's hard to imagine a cast of teenagers being able to deliver a credible performance, but this isn't just any ordinary cast of teenagers. 5 Must See High School Musicals

With rain predicted through the weekend, why not stay dry inside and see some great high school theater?

After the spectacular weather we had this past week, there can be no doubt that spring is in the air. And so are high school spring musicals. I saw the New Milford production of 9 to 5 on thursday and I am going back again for the Saturday performance. It was spectacular!!! This is no run-of-the-mill high school production. As usual, the New MIlford High School musical is outstanding. No need to venture into NYC when there is fine theater here for a fraction of the price. GO SEE IT!!!   more ›

NMHS Spring Musical Kicks into Production

"9 to 5: The Musical" directed by alumni Jonathan Silver

Every theater tells a story and New Milford High School's Jim Africano Theater is filled with them. "See that hole in the ceiling up there?" this year's director of the Spring Musical, Jonathan Silver, asked. Directly above the space between the edge of the stage and the first row of seats there is a perfectly symmetrical gaping hole. "Rob (McClure) and I were up there trying to fix the lights when he fell through the ceiling," Silver recalled. "Luckily he caught himself on two bars so he didn't come crashing to the floor."
