New Milford Little League Gets SNY PLAY BALL Grant, Visit from Mr. Met

New Milford Little League receives $5000 grant from SportsNet New York, home of the NY Mets.

Hurricane Sandy hit New Milford hard, the Little League fields being no exception. Bleachers were lost, the scoreboard was broken, fencing was destroyed and the grounds torn apart.  League Vice President, Dan Davis, said that making the necessary repairs and getting the fields ready for opening day was a daunting task.  "We rely on volunteers for everything from maintaining the fields to working the snack bar," Davis said. Practice makes perfect, and if you take a look at the Jets’ performance last season, they need a lot of practice. But don't fear Jets fans, Gang Green is already on the practice field at the Atlantic Health Jets Training Center in Florham Park. Hundreds of fans attended the team's mini-camp Tuesday and got a good look at the Jets' current quarterback competition. While projected starter Mark Sanchez was throwing a pass, a Jets fan could be heard saying, “he looks good out there, he is in control,” while another muttered, “False leadership.” Draft pick Geno Smith and Sanchez took turns running the offense, but pay no mind to the order in which the names are written. Geno looked good and was putting the ball on the money but Sanchez was much…

Yankees Help Bring New Rival for Red Bulls

New York Yankees and Manchester City have teamed up to bring a new professional soccer team to NYC by 2015.
