Former Director of Curriculum and Instruction from Moonachie chosen as Supervisor of Elementary Instruction.
Lauren Odoksta has been hired by the New Milford Board of Education (BOE) to be the Supervisor of Elementary Instruction beginning July 1. Introduced at Monday's BOE meeting, Odoksta told the audience that she began her career in Upper Saddle River as a teacher while she pursued her second masters degree in educational leadership. Odoksta has also served as Moonachie's Director of Curriculum and Instruction. The New Milford Board of Education (BOE) announced that they are soliciting candidates to fill the seat vacated by former BOE president, Darren Drake. Drake resigned his seat due to the fact that his company is relocating. During Monday's meeting, BOE Business Administrator, Michael Sawicz, announced that the Board is accepting letters of intent from anyone interested in applying to be considered for appointment to Drake’s seat. All letters must be received by the Board no later than Monday, June 24. The person chosen by the Board will serve until Dec. 31. Certificates of recognition awarded to students for assisting New Milford's Beautification Committee with clean-up on Henley.
New Milford's Beautification Committee awarded certificates of recognition to members of the Berkley School Student Council for their help assisting the Committee with a clean-up project that took place at the end of Henley Ave. This was the first clean-up project undertaken by the recently formed Beautification Committee and the first time that Berkley has worked with the Committee. A pending bill will address filing deadlines for school board candidates as well as establish procedures for BOE vacancies that occur between filing deadline and election.
The Board of Education (BOE) will be holding its regular public meeting Monday at 7 p.m. in the Media Center of New Milford High School. President of the BOE, Darren Drake, submitted his resignation during the special June 10 meeting of the BOE. According to Drake, he is resigning from the BOE because his company is relocating and he has decided to move with them. Now the job of the BOE is to appoint a person to fill Drake's seat until the general election, Nov. 5.
