Most likely started when someone (possibly) thru a cigarette out their window...so, maybe carRead More manufacturers should start putting ashtrays back in cars?! Also, all the fallen dead trees from Sandy are still littering the the wooded areas and I'm sure that that most likely contributed to the fuel for the fire.

Pssst Brian, this is a Haddonfield patch. I would say a lot of us live "Minutes fromRead More Camden". But your situation is different since you "Duck and dodge bullets" like you were Hillary Clinton back in Bosnia............Or at least thats what we were supposed to think right? I'd also love to know how many Camden residents actually registered for Obamacare since we already know who's going to end up paying for it. LOL liberals
Brian White April 24, 2014 at 07:12 pm
SO TRUE Gina. It's also no coincidence that 60 Million people voted for Obama yet only 8Read More Million (the Governments number) actually signed up for this disaster. Wheres the rest of these Left Wing minions who think so highly of Obamacare? Odd

I grew up poor. My father never made more than $30k a year raising a family with a wife and 4Read More children. We never went on welfare, never had health insurance and are immigrants who came here as political refugees. My two sisters went on to become a pediatrician and a VP of sales for a fortune 500 company. I went to MIT and have started up two companies that were both acquired. We all attended public schools. Plenty of nights going to bed hungry, never had healthcare and had PLENTY of motivation to work hard and improve our situation. It can be done if there is pressure to want to better yourself and your situation rather than make yourself comfortable at the bottom.

If the homeowner was "lying in wait" then how did he know the teens were about to enter?Read More How did he find out? Had they done this before? Did he know them? Why were they breaking in? What were they up to? Had they done this before? Were they armed? What was in the basement they were so interested in? What was there that he was trying to protect? I don't think I'd be asking many questions if someone uninvited was wandering through my house at odd hours. I don't disagree with you that we're becoming less and less a free country but it's wrong to blameRead More democrats alone. It wasn't dems alone that passed the patriot act. It hasn't been dems alone that have been re-uping it since it was passed the first time. On how bad Hillary will be as a president. Every president is bad in some ways. Reagan raised taxes more than a dozen times. Bush took us to war on two fronts with no way to pay for it. Clinton signed DOMA and DADT. Obama gave away the farm in order to get the Affordable Care Act passed. Papa Bush said that atheists shouldn't be considered Americans. Sure Hillary will be a bad president in some ways.... they are all bad in some way. I can tell you this much though, any president is going to be a worse president when the publicly stated goal of the opposition is to obstruct that president at any and all opportunities. The dems did it to Bush. The republican'ts are doing it to Obama. It's like Palestine and Israel, they'll fight to the death out of spite and habit, neither one of them knowing which one threw the first punch and not caring because winning is the only goal. What America needs are citizens that go into government for the good of the country instead of the good of their party.
Michael Hipp April 24, 2014 at 03:03 pm
Oh, one last point on your last post B. Dub. "Hillary presidency combined with a DemocraticRead More Congress." Ain't gonna happen. Republicant's have gerrymandered the states to absolute death. They have the House for the foreseeable future and they have a good chance at getting the Senate. I can't guarantee you who's going to win in 2016 but I can very well guarantee you that no one party will take executive and legislative branches, both.

Schools in blue states are excellent because citizens here take education seriously. As a result, weRead More fund schools accordingly through taxes. If you want low taxes, move to a dumb dumb red state where the education is atrocious and the citizens ignorant.

We addressed rezoning last year in a big way. We let our Mayor and elected officials know thatRead More ‘we the people’ of Wayne do not want hi density housing. But where exactly does that leave us? We are still awaiting final COAH mandates. Mayor Vergano told us succinctly that Company’s are not moving to Wayne and Wayne does not give tax breaks to businesses. In the same breath we were advised that Businesses want to move to areas where their employees can ‘live, work and play.’ So now, here we are with a newly expanded Economic Development Council to try and draw ‘ratables’ to Wayne. How exactly do we do this? The Board of Education is finalizing their budget. Once again, annually actually, there is another increase looming. The Council will begin working on their budget and I heard it from a Council member there will be another township increase and the County is sure to follow suit. I ask again, how do we entice businesses to move to Wayne? There is no economic incentive to the business nor to the employees. BAE has stated they are leaving Wayne because their employees cannot afford to live here. Our ever increasing taxes are making our community less and less affordable and our home values lower. The Mayor may just be right, businesses, ratables, just may not come to Wayne. If Businesses want to be in communities where there employees can live, work and play and Wayne is not affordable then Mayor Vergano is 100% correct. How then do we reverse this trend? We must stop the ever increasing taxes in this town. Other towns have done it, so too we must. We need to let the Board of Ed and the Township Council hear our objections to yet another annual increase. I have lived in Wayne for 19 years and my taxes have gone up every single year. We need not to accept even a little increase from the Board of Ed or the Town. We need to come out and be heard. Voice your objection to any tax increase. As our taxes continue to rise, and our home values continue to flounder, we are less likely to draw commercial ratables to Wayne. What then, HiDensity housing? Rezoning? The Board of Ed will be hearing public comments tonight and over the next few days. Let your voices be heard.

You don't need clean streets and sidewalks when your high school is rated in the top twenty NewRead More Jersey high schools! Oh wait, you mean HHS is NOT one of New Jersey's top twenty high schools? How could that be? With enrollment down to around 600, class size should be optimal. Where is the promised progress? I guess we'll have to wait for the NJ Monthly and NJDOE rankings to see if we beat Camden, or even Newark! It's sad for the kids who work really hard to do well.

@ eddie, I wouldn't mention any specific phone-calling service in case any other arseholes areRead More looking for tips. But for better or worse, those calls are traceable. They have "add-ons" that can fool your friends, but certainly not the NSA. BTW, that phone service was bought by Microsoft a couple of years ago- so much for any illusion of confidentiality. By using it, you "opt in" to give up your privacy, just like with G-mail. Using a computer to make a prank call is a dumb move in itself. Any computer transmits a wealth of information. Non-smart phones are a lot less traceable than anything else. Have you ever seen how many items advertisers and other web sites use to uniquely identify your computer? They can't tell your name but track your unique computer. It's called "computer fingerprinting." As soon as you give your name at a web site they track, they've got you. Check this site sometime to see how unique your computer is-- https://panopticlick.eff.org/ .... I suspect that nobody's putting much effort into tracing this call, because in the big scheme of things, they've got more serious things to deal with. (Unfortunately, unlike our local PDs.) Shame this idiot got so much publicity from his crime. I think the glorifying news "perp walk" should be stopped in virtually all cases.

her hiring was a joke, I mean they said they did a background check: must not have used GoogleRead More search because they've listed her troubles before her hire at Rutgers. Everyday Mathematics is just one of the programs that makes a heck of a lot of $ off of the millions of textbooks sold to schools that teach to the 'Core.' The Common Core isn't just restricting for teachers & students, it's lining people's pockets.

Separation of church and state. Period. Even if the supposed "majority" want it in, anyRead More reference to God should not be in a public place (including the Congress, the Supreme Court....virtually the entire government). Eliminating the "under God" part in the Pledge of Allegiance is a start towards an America based on the founding principle: freedom for people to live the way they want to live (as long as he or she does not infringe on the rights of another person). Religion is a private affair, not a public one.
