Special Zoning Board Meeting, New Milford Idol, Committee Vacancies

Here's a taste of what's going on around town this week in New Milford.

After closing for Martin L. King Day on Monday, the Borough of New Milford has a full slate of government meetings this week.

The Zoning Board will be holding a special meeting, on the possible development of the United Water property only, from 7 – 10 p.m. on Thursday evening. Public comments are expected to begin and will be the main focus of the meeting. The Zoning Board met last Tuesday when they heard about the proposed design of a bank and got a response, to the tune of $1.25 million, form traffic consultant Berge Tombalakian.

On Tuesday, the Environmental Commission is holding a special meeting at 7 p.m. in the second floor meeting room in Borough Hall. The Planning Board will hold their reorganization meeting at 7:30 p.m. in the main chambers in Borough Hall.

  • Berkley Elementary School’s Talent Show is scheduled for 6 p.m. Friday evening at New Milford High School.
  • Official Rounds of New Milford Idol are set to take place Thursday from 3 – 10 p.m. at New Milford High School.
  • The Recreation Commission meeting scheduled for Wednesday has been cancelled.
  • New Milford’s Shade Tree Committee is scheduled to meet Wednesday at 7 p.m. in Borough Hall.
  • The New Milford Historic Preservation Commission and the Rent Levelling Board (Tenant Positions) currently have vacancies. Anyone interested is welcome to forward a letter of interested to the Borough Administrator or Mayor for consideration.

What will the secret quiz be so you know I was there? How many hot dogs Inserra donates for the meeting or what color flower Ulises has in his hair. I was driving down Madison and saw a dog rubbing against a fire hydrant and said, now I know who JYD is, too bad he does not know who I am and why should he, Jimmy gets the blame for my posts anyhow. And before you all start in, changed the post so no children are offended. I have to say that anonymous fake posters such as JYD have just ruined the Patch, just ruined it.

As bad as it will be on Madison, it might be even worse for the 2 houses on River Rd. I don't think anything can be taken on the CVS side. Otherwise, there would not be room for the sidewalk and still have enough parking for the CVS strip mall. So, it would mean taking away at least 10 feet from the front yards on those houses. That's horrible!

You are so right Lori. This proposed development has yet to provide anything positive for the town. It's cheaper to fight it in court! Where are all the D&D supporters that preached this development will lower our taxes? It's now obvious that it's not. Wake up New Milford - D&D and the Mayor told us commercial development is best for the town and you all believed them. Now traffic flow will kick people out of their homes so the road can be widen. These are the same people that could have secured this property, with grants, and a smaller tax hike than all the infrastructure cost - for a Field of Dreams. That's another group that was seduced by D&D and the head of the Rec. department - very sad what people have been lead to believe.
