New Milford Public Schools Help Victims of Hurricane Sandy
Schools raise over $3200 for schools in Moonachie and Little Ferry; clothing and cleaning supply drives help those around New Jersey.
In the wake of Hurricane Sandy, New Milford Public Schools coordinated their efforts to help neighboring communities affected by Hurricane Sandy.
B.F. Gibbs Elementary School and David E. Owens Middle School donated over $3200 to schools in Moonachie and Little Ferry devastated by the tidal surge of the Hackensack River.
The Gibbs School 'Spirit Club' ran a week-long small change drive. Other efforts were made by students, parents, and the Girl Scouts. There was even a 'movie night' to raise funds and collect school supplies for students in Moonachie and Little Ferry. Combined with DEOMS's candy sale, a significant donation was delivered to each school.

Additionally, the Spirit Club and staff at Berkley partnered with the Park Ridge Rotary Club and delivered truckloads of supplies to sorting centers around New Jersey.
NMHS Student Council and Community Service groups collected cleaning supplies for those areas hit hard by the storm, and a clothing drive was organized by the Service Learning students.
