New Milford HS Band's First Competition Since 1996

New Milford High School's Marching Band was 'extremely happy' with their performance.

The New Milford High School Marching Band participated in their first competition since 1996 on Sunday, Nov. 3.

Students practiced for three months in preparation for their performance in the 32nd Annual Bloomfield High School Marching Band Festival.

Participating bands were divided into groups based on their instrumentation and member number. Each band performed a 10-minute show for a panel of five judges. The judges focus on different aspects of the bands performance including visual aspects, music, percussion and color guard.

Director Heidi Kolb and Assistant Director Danielle Lewis both agreed that the performance was the best that the band had put fourth this season and were thrilled with the students’ energy and musicality.

The band’s final score was a 77.6, which was considered a huge success for the program.
