Drake Resigns from Board of Education

Dan Conner will step up and take over as Board President, a position he has previously held.

Darren Drake, President of the Board of Education, submitted his resignation to the Board during Monday's meeting.

Drake is stepping down due to the fact that his company is relocating.

"After giving it much thought, I decided to resign because the district deserves 100 percent of my attention, and I expect no less of myself," Drake said. "Given the requirements of my job, I cannot possibly devote the same amount of attention to my duties on the Board. Therefore, I feel that the right decision is to step down."

Drake, a graduate of the New Milford school system, said that his experience as a member of the Board of Education, and his roles as both Vice President and President, has provided him with invaluable insight into the mechanisms of the educational system.

"This experience has also taught me just how rare it is to have a Board that embraces the same vision and works together to achieve it," Drake said. "The synergy of the Board members and administration here in New Milford cannot easily be duplicated."
