Drake New Board of Education President

Darren Drake nominated to be Board of Education President at Monday's reorganization.

In a reversal of roles, Darren Drake has taken the reins of Board of Education President from Dan Conner, while Conner will serve as Vice President, the role formerly held by Drake.

Last night's reorganization of the Board of Education included the swearing in of incumbents Darren Drake and Joseph Steele, along with Laura O'Grady and Christopher Ryan.

Drake, a graduate of the New Milford school system, said that his mission is to educate the children of New Milford while responsibly managing the taxpayers money. Supporting the senior administration, Drake is eager to work with them on carrying out the master plan and other projects that they are working on in an effort to make New Milford's schools the best.

When it comes to the education of New Milford's children, Drake says, "We shouldn't try to give our children an equal playing field. I want to give them the best so that they can be the best and achieve the most."

Understanding that reaching these goals requires strict attention to the management of the taxpayers money, Drake believes that much has already been accomplished on a limited budget, and more will continue to be accomplished going forward.

"I want to give our children the best technology, the best programs, and the best facilities," Drake said.

"I want them to outshine their peers in the district factor group."
