DEO Students Artwork Included in Women's Equality Day Exhibit

County exhibit celebrates women's right to vote.

Bergen County Executive Kathleen A. Donovan and the Board of Chosen Freeholders unveiled an exhibit honoring Women’s Equality Day on Thursday.

The exhibit is sponsored by the Bergen County Commission on the Status of Women. Eighteen students representing Bergen County submitted art work that contains their interpretation of the significance of Women’s Equality Day. Four were selected from David E. Owens Middle School -- Shane George, Brianna Gould, Erein James Adiao Ruiz and Alexander Velasco.

The observance of Women’s Equality Day commemorates the passage of the 19th amendment to the U.S. Constitution and calls attention to women’s continuing efforts toward full equality.
