Mayor and Council Meeting, Cyber Bullying and Youth Depression Presentation and More, This Week in New Milford

Check out what's going on in town this week.

There will be a public meeting of the Mayor and Council on Monday. They will hold their work session in the upstairs conference room of Borough Hall beginning at 7 pm followed by the open session at 7:45 pm in the Council Chambers. Click here to see a copy of the agenda.

The Planning Board meeting scheduled for Tuesday, Feb. 26 has been cancelled. The next meeting will be held on March 19 and will be a combined work session and public meeting.

On Wednesday, the New Milford School District’s Student Assistance and Harassment, Intimidation and Bullying Program (HIB) is offering a presentation at the high school for all parents, guardians and community members. Registration for this program is required.

John Halligan will be giving a presentation about his son, Ryan, who died by suicide on Oct. 7, 2003 after being bullied by classmates at school and online. He was 13-years old. Halligan’s presentation will cover the lessons learned too late for his family regarding how to deal with bullying, cyber-bullying and teen depression. 
 
This presentation is for adults only and is scheduled from 7:00 pm to 8:30 pm in the auditorium at the high school. Please contact Dorene Zacher, dzacher@newmilfordschools.org or 201-262-0172 Ext. 2013 to register.      

The Shade Tree Committee will also be meeting Wednesday at 7 pm in the upstairs conference room at Borough Hall.

There will be a special meeting of the Zoning Board on Thursday beginning at 7:30 pm in the Council Chambers of Borough Hall. The meeting will be devoted entirely to the proposed development of the United Water property. Click here to see a copy of the agenda.

The New Milford High School Band is having a pancake fundraiser Saturday at Applebee's in Northvale from 8 am to 10 am. Tickets are $12. Tickets can be purchased from Heidi Kolb, any band member, or at the door. The proceeds will go to fund the band's trip to Washington, DC in April. Applebee's is located at 273 Livingston Street, Northvale.
