Proposed 10-Unit Apartment Complex on Madison, Vote Expected Soon

The Zoning Board is taking final questions from the public on testimony given by the applicant's planner before voting.

Alex & Sons Real Estate is looking to build an apartment complex on the currently vacant lot located at 391 Madison Avenue.

The previously submitted plan of 14 units has been pulled and a new plan of 10 units is now on the table.

A home sat on the property until the summer of 2011, at which point it was demolished. Members of the public stepped forward and testified under oath that they had witnessed about half a dozen truckloads of soil being brought onto the site.

A large section of the property on Madison Avenue is considered a wetland and no soil nor filler may be brought in without approval. The video above displays a neighbor who is testifying under oath that she witnessed these trucks dumping soil.

The applicant has presented their witnesses and the board is wrapping up the public questioning portion of the proposal. A vote could be held at the next meeting on Dec. 10 at 8 p.m.
