Woman Falls Through Ceiling Of New Milford Home

Fire official rules house unsafe, orders occupants to leave

NEW MILFORD -- A 60-year-woman fell through a ceiling onto the floor of a Bergen Avenue home Saturday and was taken to the hospital with severe back pain, police said.

Police did not release the name of the woman, who was taken to Hackensack University Medical Center.

New Milford fire official Alan Silverman declared the one-family home unsafe because of holes in the roof and ceiling and other water damage. He also ordered the occupants to leave the home, and utilities were turned off.
