Woman Charged With Shoplifting Lottery Tickets

Waldwick woman charged with taking tickets from Krauser's, police said.

A Waldwick woman is accused of stealing 13 lottery tickets from a River Road convenience store, New Milford Police Chief Frank Papapietro said.

Elizabeth Parisi, 43, was charged with shoplifting from the Jets Stationery/Krauser’s Convenience Store, police said.

Police said the store's owner, Kanubhai Patel, realized that “Double Dollar” lottery tickets were missing from a recent shipment.  Patel reviewed video surveillance tapes and observed a woman with red hair taking the tickets from the counter and concealing them before leaving the store, according to police reports.

New Milford Police Officer Nelson Perez reviewed the surveillance video from Krauser's and videos from  nearby businesses and observed the woman getting into a blue Dodge Durango and driving away.  Police said Perez was able to read the registration on the vehicle from the video.

"Sgt. Frank Ramaci did a computer search of all encounters NMPD had with vehicles with similar descriptions as the one in the video and came up with two matches," said Papapietro. "A photo was obtained from Motor Vehicle Services of the registered owner of the vehicle which looked similar to the suspect."

Ramaci recognized the suspect from a New Milford Municipal Court appearance the week before, according to police reports.

Parisi appeared at NMPD headquarters last week, where she was interviewed by Ramaci and Perez.

She was charged on June 9 and released with a summons and is awaiting a court date.
