Update: River Edge Police Car Accident

More details released on the minor accident which happened on New Bridge Road last Wednesday

River Edge Police Officer Joseph Zemaites was attempting to perform a motor vehicle stop last Wednesday around 12:30 p.m. on New Bridge Road near Rosse Avenue when his car went off the road crashing into a wooden guardrail.

Zemaites was driving over the bridge when his vehicle began to fishtail. He lost control of the car at that point and it resulted in the crash, according to police. The vehicle was towed from the scene and Zemaites sustained no injuries during the accident.

Officers from River Edge, Teaneck and New Milford responded to the crash. NMPD assisted their fellow officers and managed traffic while the vehicle was being removed. The car had to be removed from the roadside on a flat bed tow truck. Traffic on New Bridge Road heading east was detoured onto Old New Bridge Road and Riverview Avenue until the scene was cleared.
