Police Seek Help in Finding Resident

Joseph Portizo was reported missing on July 29

Police are searching for a 54-year-old New Milford man who was reported missing Friday by his family.

Joseph Portizo was last seen by his mother around 8 p.m. on Thursday July 28. Portizo suffers from schizophrenia, diabetes and depression, police said, adding that he is "considered suicidal."

Portizo is 5'11" and weighs 210 pounds, according to police. He has brown eyes and is mostly bald with the exception of some black hair around the sides of his head. He was last seen wearing a dark t-shirt, blue jeans and white sneakers, according to police.

Identifying marks include scars on his chest and stomach, police said. Portizo, according to the NMPD, does not currently have a mustache and does not have top teeth.

Police said Portizo's vehicle, keys, wallet and phone were found in Brooklyn around 7 p.m. on Friday as reported by officers from the NYPD's 88th Precinct.

Police are asking other local law enforcement agencies to check hospitals and medical centers. They are asking anyone with questions or information to contact the New Milford Police Department at 201-261-1400.
