Photo Gallery: New Milford Faces Post-Irene Flooding

Low-lying areas of the borough have been hit the hardest

Borough residents flocked to the high school fields to watch as the water rose on the Hackensack River at New Milford. The US Geological Survey measured the river at 6.79 feet which is above flood stage for the borough.

The sound of generators was heard in areas of the borough that had lost power. The traffic light at Madison Avenue and River Road was out Sunday afternoon and motorists were using caution through the intersection. Madison Plaza stores were also closed on Sunday.
