PBA Pulls For Wounded Warriors

Members of Paramus Police PBA Local 186 took part in a tank-pull fundraiser to benefit the Wounded Warrior Foundation in Clifton.

A 20-person team from the Paramus PBA Local 186 raised over $1,500 to participate in an event on Sunday to benefit the Wounded Warrior Foundation in Clifton.

The event was sponsored by the Knights of Columbus St. Philip The Apostle Council 11671. 

According to Capt. Kenneth Ehrenberg of the Paramus Police Department, the Paramus PBA team pulled the American tank from the Korean War era along Clifton Avenue.

The effort was coordinated by Detective James Teehan and PBA President Detective Mike Cebulski.

During the competition, teams of 20 individuals pulled the truck 12 feet. Participants were rated for fastest time, least amount of weight, and the total fundraising efforts of the team. Teams joined by donating a minimum of $1,500.

Paramus resident Joe Vergona of the Vergona Crane Company donated one of his cranes to get the 27-ton tank from the front yard of the New Jersey Veterans Home in Paramus onto a flatbed truck beore heading to Clifton. 

In the past two years, teams have raised over $250,000 for the Wounded Warriors Project and various Veteran organizations.

The objective of the Wounded Warriors Project is to provide support for severely wounded veterans and to help them on the road to healing physically and mentally.
