OPD Investigating Luring Incident on Woodland Avenue

A seven-year-old resident reported being approached by an unknown older white male this week

Oradell Police are investigating a potential luring incident after a seven-year-old resident on Woodland Avenue reported being approached by an unknown white male outside of her home this week.

According to police, the child was playing outside with a younger brother when an older white male with grey, balding hair, wearing a button-down shirt and black pants exited a small grey car and approached the two siblings. Both children ran inside their home and informed a parent, but the unknown man was gone by time their mother returned outside.

"At this time there is no additional information and the matter is still under investigation," OPD Sgt. Kevin Smith said.

A similar incident was reported in Maywood prior to last weekend when a middle-aged man approached a young girl on Orchard Place, asking her to come "see his puppies."

A sketch released by the Maywood Police shows a man with facial hair and what is described as salt and pepper-colored hair. The Oradell resident did not recognize the man in the Maywood sketch.
