NMPD: Man Used Forged Prescription to Try to Obtain Painkillers

The man attempted to fill the prescription at the CVS at 880 River Road

A Kearny man was recently arrested for attempting to fill a fraudulent prescription for oxycodone at the CVS in the Brookchester Shopping Plaza, according to police reports.

Christopher Salerno, 35, was in the CVS on May 23 when he was arrested without incident according to the NMPD. The pharmacist called police, suspecting Salerno's prescription was fraudulent.

Officers Renzo Trapani, Darrell Marshall and Haggerty responded to the scene and made the arrest.

Marshall contacted the doctor's office listed on the prescription pad and, "she informed me that the accused was not a patient of her office and that some prescription pads were stolen from the office," according to the police report.

The NMPD said Salerno was charged with receiving stolen property and forgery. Municipal Court Judge Kevin Kelly set bail at $25,000 with no 10 percent option.

Salerno was unable to post bail and was transported to the Bergen County Jail, according to police.

This isn't the first time that a fraudulent prescription has been used at this same CVS. Back in April, two men attempted to fill a fake oxycodone prescription. One of the men was wearing a fake cast and had a pronounced limp, according to the NMPD.
