New Milford, Oradell Fire Departments Recipients of Flood Water Dry Rescue Suits from County

Suits courtesy of a Homeland Security grant.

A $40,000 grant from Homeland Security has enabled the Bergen County Office of Emergency Management to purchase 25 complete sets of Swift Water/Flood Water Dry Rescue suits and associated equipment that they will be distributing to 11 towns, including New Milford and Oradell.

According to County officials, this equipment will improve the abilities to deploy more trained first responders to assist in Swift Water/ Flood Water situations throughout Bergen County.

Both the New Milford and Oradell Fire Departments are trained to respond to flood emergencies and have often put these skills to use--especially during Hurricane Irene when they traveled in boats to evacuate people from their homes.
