A New Milford man was sentenced to three years in prison after breaking a water pipe at the Bergen County courthouse last July.

Benjamin Blohm, 28, who has spent the last eight months in the County jail, entered a plea deal on charges of criminal mischief, theft and burglary during his Friday afternoon court appearance, according to a report on northjersey.com.

Blohm was caught on a courthouse camera breaking a water pipe on the third floor while waiting for a drug court appearance stemming from a 2011 New Year's Eve arrest in New Milford.

The broken pipe caused both a Superior Court judge and a sheriff’s officer to slip and injure themselves. The Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office, on the second floor, sustained heavy damage and forced some staff to relocate. An elevator shaft was also apparently flooded.
