Heavy Traffic and Delays Expected This Weekend

Track work to close Oradell Avenue crossing

NMPD Chief Frank Papapietro said Oradell Avenue at the railroad crossing will be closed this weekend which is expected to lead to heavy delays in the borough.

"Oradell Avenue east of Kinderkamack Road will be closed beginning  Friday June 24 at 7 p.m. through Monday June 27 at approximately 7 p.m. due to construction at the railroad crossing," said Papapietro.

NJ Transit said it is making necessary repairs to the tracks at the crossing. The agency has been working for most of June on crossings and tracks all along the Pascack Valley line. Busses will be provided all weekend while the trains are not in operation.

NJ Transit also suggested using the Main or Bergen train lines until the Pascack Valley line is reopened late Monday. The weekend repairs will cap a 22-day period of work where multiple crossings, track upgrades and routine maintenance were performed on the line, according to NJ Transit.

This is the first time that local drivers have been significantly impacted by the construction.
