Fugitive Charged with Hitting New Milford Officer Extradited to Bergen County Jail

A 23-year old Little Ferry man, accused of striking a New Milford police officer after fleeing the scene of a robbery, has been a fugitive since February. He was extradited to Bergen County Jail and faces a Dec. 11 court date.

Richard Scrivani, 23, of Little Ferry has been a fugitive since he allegedly robbed a CVS in Dumont and struck a New Milford police officer.

Scrivani was recently extradited from Florida and is being held in Bergen County Jail on $95,000 bail.

Scrivani, struck New Milford police officer Richard Giacobone in the right arm and fled the scene in his vehicle.

Giacobone was treated at Holy Name Medical Center and quickly returned to duty, said New Milford Police Chief Frank Papapietro.

Scrivani, who drove off in a black Audi, was pursued by Sgt. Daniel LaMorges. LaMorges terminated the pursuit and lost Scrivani due to hazardous road conditions, said Papapietro.

According to a report by the cliffviewpilot.com, Scrivani was found by police in Florida and was carrying his New Jersey driver’s license, as well as a cigarette pack filled Oxycodone, Xanax, crack cocaine and a small metal pipe.

A Dec. 11 court date has been scheduled for Scrivani in New Milford court.
