Flood Watch in Effect For New Milford

National Weather Service has issued flood watch for area

Chief of Police Frank Papapietro reported that the National Weather Service has issued a flood watch for the New Milford area. 

"Residents in flood prone areas are advised to take appropriate measures to protect their valuables and to move their vehicles to higher ground," Papapietro said.

Papapietro said that overnight parking has been suspended for Sunday night.

The National Weather Service predicts up to 3.5 inches of rain beginning this afternoon and into early Monday morning, Papapietro said. 

"Given the extreme dry conditions that have existed to this point, the ground may not be able to initially absorb the moisture, thereby creating runoffs," he added.
