Teens Caught on Tape Breaking Into Berkley School

Five juveniles were seen on surveillance tape climbing onto the roof of the school, police said.

Five teenagers were charged in connection with a burglary that occurred at , Police Chief Frank Papapietro said Tuesday. Four of the juveniles are from New Milford and one is from Bergenfield. 

On June 28, Building and Grounds Supervisor Ron Stokes detected that an unauthorized entry had been made into the custodian office at Berkely and various items had been taken, Papapietro said. Upon further investigation, Stokes discovered that entry had been made through a roof skylight. 

Detective Sgt. Brian Long reviewed the surveillance video with Stokes and, with the help of Principal Jerry Perrone, they were able to identify the five juveniles involved.

"Four of the juveniles can be seen climbing onto the roof of the school from the front wall of the building while the fifth juvenile remained on the ground," Papapietro said.

All five juveniles have been charged with burglary and theft. They were released to their parents pending action from Juvenile Court.
