THE SNOW WILL MELT....

....and when it does, the runoff will fill the reservoir to capacity with or without any additional rain. United Water must act responsibly in maintaining safe reservoir levels this spring to avoid local flooding in New Milford. I sent this letter to Rich Henning at United Water today. I urge everyone to contact anyone you think will listen:
"Does United Water account for snow that is going to eventually melt and fill the reservoirs in the spring? Why not? If we get any more snow piling up, we may not need additional precipitation for the reservoirs to overflow and flood our New Milford properties when it happens. And you can't say you don't know if it's going to melt unless it does. Forecasts may not be facts, true, but spring is inevitable and if you don't account for the runoff into the reservoir, it would be both ignorant and irresponsible of you. Snow will be your reserve in the coming months and if you don't manage the reservoir responsibly in a year where we've had excessive snowfall with more to come, you are going to flood us out again when it could easily be prevented if you had a common sense plan in place to keep the reservoir at safe levels."
