Mayor Subrizi Thanks Everyone For Fortitude And Patience During Storm

Subrizi thanks those who kept the town safe during the dark days of Sandy.

We have just survived Hurricane Sandy and Nor’easter Athena. There is much to be grateful for. No one was injured. That is the most important. Without your health you have nothing. Many homes were damaged, and the restoration period has begun. There is information on the Borough web site regarding help with this phase.

I want to thank everyone for their fortitude and patience, although I know we were on borrowed time with patience.

In the beginning we are not able to know that it will take 10 days to get everyone’s power restored. We don’t know that the streets around Ascension Church will be affected in the way that they were; or that there will be 6 houses on Fulton Street that have a problem; or that Holland Avenue would have scattered outages up and down the block.

Our first responders, Police, Fire, Ambulance, and Police Auxiliary have worked and continue to work to keep us safe and secure. We are blessed to have them.

And when this happens all the information is useless until everyone has power.  That was our goal and we are almost there. I believe everyone has power, finally.  If anyone is without power please call Borough Hall or email me.

And thank goodness for our DPW. They came to our rescue where ever they could, as they always do. I know the leaves are piling up and they will be around.  Forgive them, if they are a little behind schedule.  Without them New Milford would not look as good as it does.

Sincerely,

Mayor Ann Subrizi

We did get lucky, eventhough I flooded and the Mayor had a tree smash into her garage, things could have been a lot worse in town. I was so proud to see the Chief montitor the river the way he did and how his men kept tabs on who left or stayed behind in the low lying neighborhoods. The M&C did a great job too, but my heroes are always our hard working DPW crew. Again, we got lucky with Sandy but we were prepared for the worse and for that I tip my hat to you all - thank you.

Great job by all NM front line responders. The DPW did a first rate job. We are all so fortunate. Though some of us had damage to our homes, we are alive and well!

Great job to all. Suggestion can New Milfor start using nixle. My wife and I get nixle updates of the local towns and it is very useful!

David, the town is signed up with a service that Chief Papapietro utilized during this storm. Here's the link to the article I wrote that provides the link to sign up for emergency notifications. http://newmilford-nj.patch.com/articles/new-milford-emergency-notification-system-up-and-running
