Snow, Frigid Temperatures Ring in the New Year

Below freezing temperatures and snowy roads are likely to mark the first days of 2014.

North Jersey residents can expect a little snowfall to help them ring in 2014.

Scattered snow showers, snow squalls, temperatures in the 20s and flash freeze conditions could rake through our area bringing at least 6 inches of snow accumulation between Tuesday evening and Friday morning, according to the National Weather Service.

“A prolonged period of snow is expected late Wednesday night into Friday morning,” the NWS said in an advisory Tuesday morning.

Forecasters have also predicated bitterly cold conditions after snowfall abates on Friday, with some calling for even more snow as another storm appears headed our way early next week.
