Inaugural NMEF 10K Considered a 'Tremendous Success'

New Milford Education Foundation's 10K brings in about $10K on their first go around.

The New Milford Education Foundation held their first annual ‘Run for Your Lives’ 10k and fun run Sunday morning.

The race took in nearly $10,000 and drew 200 registered runners.

More than eight miles of roads were closed for the event, and despite that, there were only a small number of complaint calls from residents.

Race organizers plan to meet with the Chief of police, representatives from the DPW and EMS to ensure that planning for the second annual run takes place next October.

“For a 1st year event of this magnitude, I’d consider it a tremendous success,” said Jim Pendergast on behalf of the New Milford Education Foundation. “With a combination of three great races, fantastic weather, entertainment from the Neverends, good food and, most of all, amazing people, the day couldn’t have been better! I want to personally thank all of the participants and volunteers, both local and from the surrounding area, for helping support New Milford schools.”
