Shop Rite, I don't think so.

On a recent unfortunate trip into the New Milford Shop Rite to pick up a few late night groceries, where I hate to shop because of the development attack on our community and because the store is just plain filthy and the fruit and vegatables are of third world quality, I could not help but notice cardboard duct taped to the floor everywhere. Almost every aisle had a large area of floor covered by cardboard, trying to hide the holes in the floor. This is crazy ! The store has a responsibility to keep the shoppng experience clean and safe. This is especially disturbing given the number of seniors and disabled resident without cars unable to shop somewhere else. The tripping hazard is evident everywhere and the dirty cardboard taped to the floor is appalling, the only thing worse was probaby the bacteria infested carpet recently removed. This is not only a dangerous environment but clearly a health and building code violation . The floor cannot be cleaned propery and the shoppers should not be subjected to a dangerous walking or shopping environment.
Some will say that " THAT IS WHY WE NEED A NEW SUPERMARKET IN OUR TOWN ". Well I say that Shop Rite spend 2 years at the Zoning Board several years ago and DID secure approval to build a new supermarket in it's current location, but did they do anything? NO. Even if they were to secure approval with the current application at the High School , causing so much grief here in town , it would take years to build it. Don't Shop Rite customers , who do chose to shop there or worse, have no other choice, deserve a safe and clean store. They certainly do, and the law requires it. Shop Rite management has the responsibility, at a minimum, to maintain the store. If a window breaks will they place cardboard over that ? They certainly are making a profit on the customers who shop there or rest assured, they would close it without a care for those who need it. It's time to call Shop Rite out,  tell them the store is dirty and dangerous and they need to clean up their act, regardless of what the outcome of their involvement with the Hekemiam Henchmen. Don't our residents deserve it ?
