"Groundswell Rising" Screening and Fracking Waste Panel in Wyckoff

Gas drillers in Pennsylvania are using a dangerous method of natural gas drilling called hydraulic fracturing, or fracking. The practice produces radioactive and toxic waste containing up to 750 chemicals, which threatens drinking water supplies.

The New Jersey Legislature is considering a bill that would ban the disposal of toxic and radioactive fracking waste across the state, protecting our watersheds for future generations.

Join us on May1st to learn more at a screening of the film “Groundswell Rising” followed by a panel discussion focusing on actions being taken here in New Jersey to get protections from toxic fracking waste in place.

WHEN: May 1st at 7pm
WHERE: Wyckoff Public Library, 200 Woodland Ave, Wyckoff, NJ 07481

Groundswell Rising, Protecting Our Children’s Air And Water, the new documentary from Emmy Award-winning Resolution Pictures, captures the passion of people engaged in a David and Goliath confrontation. They stand together, challenging a system that promotes profit over health. We meet mothers, fathers, scientists, doctors, farmers and people from all sides of the political spectrum taking a hard look at energy extraction techniques not proven to be safe. With the Oil and Gas industry’s expansion of fracking seen as a moral issue, this provocative documentary tracks a people’s movement, a groundswell rising towards reason and sensitivity, to protect life, today and tomorrow.

Sponsored by Clean Water Action, Delaware Riverkeeper Network, Food and Water Watch & the New Jersey Sierra Club

This Screening of Groundswell Rising is the opening film for the First Annual FLOW (Franklin Lakes, Oakland and Wyckoff) Green Film Festival, which is taking place on Thursdays during the Month of May at the Wyckoff Public Library.
